We take the contractor’s license number and look it up ourselves on the CSLB website. We confirm the license is active today, that it carries the C-39 roofing classification the work calls for, and we read the bond and workers’ compensation status shown on the same record.
We ask for a certificate of insurance rather than a verbal assurance, and we check that the coverage dates are current instead of from a policy period that has already ended. Where crews are on the roof, that includes workers’ compensation.
We look at how long the business has actually operated, what past customers have said publicly, and whether any complaint history appears on the CSLB record or elsewhere.
Before a contractor can receive a homeowner request, they have to accept our referral terms and the service expectations that come with them.
Joining the network is not the end of the review. We run these checks again on a schedule rather than filing the results away after signup, because a license that was active last year tells you nothing about today, and homeowners have a direct way to tell us when an experience did not go well. Contractors who stop meeting our standards can be suspended or removed.
